TWS students invited to join ITAM's Lobos Negros Robotics team

Amalia C., Camilo B., Maria G., Martin C., and Natalia L., all from Form 2, were recently invited to be a part of ITAM’s Lobos Negros Robotics team, in recognition of their excellent performance at a robotics competition held earlier this year at ITAM. The Lobos Negros, sponsored by Grupo Farina and ITAM, is composed of the 20 best students selected from a group of over 300 students in Mexico, and is one of only two teams from outside the United States invited to participate in the Buc Days 2025 Robotics Challenge organized by First in Texas, a leading robotics league.

Speaking at The Wingate School, Angel Zárate, CEO of Grupo Farina, pointed out that the fact that TWS students comprise 25 percent of the Lobos Negros speaks to the quality of a Wingate School education, which emphasizes not just the academic rigour but also teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

We are very proud of our students and wish them the very best. Go Owls!

Elderly Visit

P2

The “Elderly Visit” is a monthly initiative where our students commit to bringing a touch of joy to a local nursing home situated in the vicinity of our school. This activity aims to instill in our children a sense of social responsibility towards the elderly, while, in turn, the senior residents enjoy the valuable company that our children provide during these special moments.

Professional Development on Friday

On Friday, TWS hosted four other CDMX schools that have British roots.  Namely, Lancaster, Edron, Churchill and (yes, located a few miles outside CDMX!), Victoria.  All five schools belong to the Latin American Heads Conference (LAHC).  Our common CP days, occurring on Fridays, allowed us all to gather under our roof.
Thus, some 40 teachers, plus our own staff, were able to attend a full day, one that focussed on both “Literacy and Edtech” issues.
Our three keynote speakers, each speaking for twenty minutes, provided a splendid start to the day, introducing pertinent questions to the audience that the dozen or so breakout rooms (spread over three hours) would then develop.
The term “AI” was much in evidence throughout the day.  Our own Ms Tee D. (Secondary Science) and Mr Noah M. (Secondary STEM) ran very interesting sessions in two of those dozen breakout rooms.
Feedback about the day has already got back to us from the visiting teachers’ Head Teachers.  Coincidentally, Mr Wingate met two of them in person at another educational event in the city, on the Saturday.  Happily, their teachers’ feedback has proved most positive.
The event was organized as a LAHC PD initiative.  We thank our own representative (in CDMX, we are in LAHC’s “Hub F,” to be precise), Ms. Lucy Juarez.  By arranging all the logistics so well, she greatly added to the overall success of the day.
